The Value Stream Manager is responsible for overall planning, direction, leadership, control, and administration of the value streams in manufacturing. This position will require collaboration with the supply chain and sales team to balance priorities and meet customer demands in a changing and flexible environment while maintaining compliance. Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and lean tools will be a key part of successfully reducing waste in production. Drives team accountability through Lean Daily Management process and reports out on metrics to top management. Knowledge of ISO and/or other Quality Management Systems is a plus.

Essential Functions

Production planning in a high mix low volume environment

Leadership of a highly skilled mechanical assembly process

Lead hourly direct labor employees and hold them accountable for results

Ability to communicate and drive for results

Experience with ERP Systems (JDE knowledge a plus)

Experience with creating and managing work flow (work orders)

Understanding of inventory control/management

Utilize team leads and continuous improvement tools to reduce waste/costs

Effectively produce written documents such as production reports or procedures/ work instructions when necessary

Effectively produce verbal reports and presentations

Responsible for Training and Compliance of manufacturing teams

Lead Lean Daily Management Meeting

Trend and track manufacturing performance

Root Cause Analysis of missed targets, able to drive action plans to address the root cause

Mentor and training of hourly employees

Performs other duties as required

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety to self and co-workers


Required Education and Experience

BA/BS Degree in applicable field

A minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment with progressive responsibilty or leadership position

Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, TOC) preferred

Experience with ERP systems

Experience working with ISO 9001 or QMS systems

Mechanical assembly skills

Preferred Education and Experience

Three (3) plus years of Leadership Experience

Five (5) plus years of Manufacturing Experience

Must be able to multitask

Advanced computer skills

Demonstrate responsibility, respect, dependability, patience, and productivity in order to create a positive work environment

Supervisory Responsibility

Lead and direct all members of Value Stream

Work Environment

Exposure to manufacturing environment. Noise level may vary from moderate office environment to noisy/loud in the plant area. Proper use of safety equipment such as steel-toed shoes, goggles, safety glasses, gloves, apron and face shield must be observed.
