IDEX is seeking a talented and experienced compliance professional to join our global trade compliance team in the role of Compliance Trade Director in Lake Forest, Illinois.
The Compliance Trade Director will help direct the Company’s trade compliance program; conduct trade audits at the business unit (BU) level and assist with risk mitigation; develop, update and enforce trade compliance policies and procedures; and develop and deliver trade compliance training. The Compliance Trade Director will also provide general import/export compliance support in other areas as the need arises.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage a team of 2-4 trade professionals
Participate in on-site BU trade audits to identify risks and potential gaps in control processes and procedures
Develop corrective action plans to remediate audit findings
Develop, update and enforce trade policies and procedures
Develop and deliver training on trade processes
Develop ITAR-related processes and procedures
Develop and administer training (both online and in person) on import/export matters that reflect the latest developments in trade regulations
Participate in trade compliance investigations and draft investigation reports
Drive improvement and efficiencies of established trade processes aligned with Company goals
Participate in a variety of projects in support of IDEX’s global compliance program
Comprehensive knowledge of import and export laws and regulations
Comprehensive knowledge of EEI, HTS classification, denied party screening and other compliance processes
Knowledge of Customs, BIS, EAR and OFAC regulations
Knowledge of ITAR regulations
Experience conducting trade-related audits
Experience conducting trade-related investigations
Solid project management experience, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects with varying deadlines effectively and on time
Ability to project authority and influence to senior management and individuals across multiple cultures, disciplines and geographies necessary to achieve compliance
Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with a wide variety of people, such as government officials/investigators, purchasing and shipping personnel and clerical to management level personnel
Highly-motivated, proactive self-starter with excellent judgment and professional maturity
Ability to fit into a team-oriented environment that is both friendly and informal, yet demanding of excellence, fast-paced and rapidly changing
Willingness to travel a minimum of 50% (domestic and international)
Basic knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and software applications used for screening restricted parties JDE/TRAX preferred
Excellent communication skills, written and oral
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five years of experience in a trade compliance role.
