The Viking Pump Foundry Operations team is seeking Foundry Manufacturing Engineer to assist in maintaining and improving Foundry processes and systems that affect the quality of our products. The position requires high-level technical contribution, working with minimum supervision, and continually improving standard work and the development of processes.
Analyze, evaluate, plan, specify, and develop foundry processes using initiative, imagination, and judgment under general technical direction and supervision.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Observe machines and equipment for malfunction and works in tandem with maintenance team to troubleshoot issues
Carry out process improvement, problem resolution, Capital project management, and employee training
Improve manufacturing processes and methods for cost reduction, quality improvement and efficiency
Prepare and assist plans for the above and coordinate deployment including training of team members
Assist management in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control and training
Assist the preparation of detailed layouts of buildings and equipment
Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products utilizing the Nova-CastSolidification software including training team members and evaluating the results
Cost justifies tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods
Performs process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvements, and improved efficiencies
Represents the foundry on cross-functional teams
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
BA or BS degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or Metallurgy engineering or equivalent experience in a related field.
Continuous improvement and lean experience in a foundry environment preferred
Strong Visualization capabilities
Excellent computer, communication, and teamwork skills
Ability to operate in a union environment
Ability to identify problems/deficiencies and act accordingly with minimal direction and guidance.
OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires the ability to manage multiple projects in a systematic and orderly manner.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to move within office, foundry, and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions.
Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person.
Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.
General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.
Must have the ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers and all levels of corporate and company personnel.
Requires frequent contact with personnel from all departments and at all management levels and outside vendors.
