Role Purpose Statement:

  • To provide the planning model for PPE business unit(s) ensuring average capacity loading is in place. Where there are capacity issues caused by high or unusual order intake take appropriate action to ensure that customer expectations are maintained.

  • To provide up to date timely information to the Sales team regarding availability of improved lead-times (Rapids) and manage the delivery schedule both internally and externally both on Syteline and the online quotation system.

  • Manage and control inventory providing weekly updates on the stock position and managing the stock position through the purchase of raw materials.

  • Provide Capacity planning forecasts in line with future growth prospects

  • To be part of the internal Communications Team and participate in the internal decision making process that affects Operations.

  • Provide mentoring and guidance support to the roles of to the business cell leaders in dispatch, receiving, planning, and buying.

  • Provide on-going support to the UK Manufacturing Center in Blackburn, England with the transfer of work and overall achievement of platform based AOP

Main Accountabilities:

  • Develop, implement and administer the planning system taking opportunities to improve currentaverage planning capacity. Ultimately move towards a more dynamic planning system incorporating online ordering.

  • Control the planning, capacity smoothing and release of job cards into the factory. Ensure this is done via the planning team in order to achieve OTD in line with customer expectation.

  • Contribute and ultimately lead capacity planning by analysing data on order book patterns, where the shape of the business is changing and provide advice to the General and Plant Managers on current and future capital projects.

  • Manage consignment stocks in line with the sales growth in AOP and the overall $ value is in line with the stock turn commitments in our STRAP. Where values are higher or lower than expected have appropriate supporting information to submit to the SLT.

  • Present loading information at the Daily Operations review on the current loadings and where potential bottle necks may appear in the future. Give guidance on support on issues such as recruitment / capital into these busier areas.

  • Direct and provide guidance for the Receiving and Dispatch leads Operations in the development of the team and guide them to understand the priorities of the business and individual priorities of certain customers etc.

Internal Sales Support

Work with the Manufacturing teams to provide accurate up to date loadings and late job information to the Internal Sales team. Where errors are made or training needs identified help and support the Internal Sales Managers in ensuring all staff are competent on the system.

Dispatch / Receiving

Direct and provide guidance for the Receiving and Dispatch leads Operations in the development of the team and guide them to understand the priorities of the business and individual priorities of certain customers etc.

Operations team

This role will act as a figure head for the support and development of other members of the Operations team. System knowledge and experience will need to be shared and passed down in order to focus on future growth plans of PPE. Help guide and direct the Cells by providing schedule assistance.

Role Content:

  • Review the current methods of planning and reporting and look at the best possible methodsfor improvements. Involvement in improvement activities across the different functions within the business and provide input into what operationally we can do to deliver these changing demands.

  • Ensure that the schedule reflects 80-20 principles.

  • Continue to use the loading charts and work on the development of the planner role in doing all the loading charts and release of jobs. Linking in with point one above as and when new methods / demands are placed on Operations then working with the cross functional teams to deliver new methods of working.

  • Use the 80-20 principles to develop a forward looking tool to predict capacity constraints / potential late deliveries.

  • Work with wider PPE Operations team looking at the future requirements of the business, going forward play an active role in providing details on the “Shape and Type” of business that we are currently winning and is growing and make Capital investment decisions based on this profile.

  • Review weekly the Consignment Stocks and action individuals to take corrective action when any aspect is out of control. Within this meeting control the individuals and feedback weekly via the minutes to the SLT any highlights that affect the month end stock turn position. Review weekly raw material stocks and manage levels to meet turns and inventory levels. Ensure buying team has correct limits on stocking requirements and material on hand is within min max levels.

  • Guide and support purchasing team to develop source saving actions to ensure meeting annualgoals.

  • Continue to support and manage the transfer of relevant work to the Blackburn unit. Work with theteam in Blackburn team to review capacities and best way to support each other.

  • Participate fully in the Daily Operations Review meeting, highlighting issues as they occur andfeeding back on actions taken to prevent recurrence. Present as and when required any area of the business that has loading concerns going forwards.

  • Ensure all product ready for the customer is being dispatched in a timely manner and meeting customer expectations. Guide and mentor the shipping and receiving team to ensure efficiency and accuracy throughout their daily tasks.


3 - 5 years planning experience using ERP systems with knowledge of MRP systems

3 - 5 years of managing experience in fast paced work environment

Prior experience in shipping, receiving, and buying

Overall business awareness and knowledge of all the different functions

Both production and capacity planning experience

Ability to present KPI’s and report back on business performance
